Decision 13/2020/QD-TTg on the incentive mechanism for solar power development in Vietnam took effect on May 22, 2020.

For ROOFTOP SOLAR POWER PROJECTS to enjoy the price of 8.38 cents per kWh, the project must operate electricity generation and confirm meter readings from July 1, 2019, to December 31, 2020.

OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF GRID-CONNECTED SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

1. Solar panels absorb sunlight (photoenergy) and convert it into direct current (DC) to supply the grid (Inverter).
2. The inverter converts DC into alternating current (AC) of the same phase, frequency, and voltage to connect to the national grid and supply to the family.
3. If the weather is sunny, the amount of electricity produced from the panels will be enough for the family, and the system will prioritize using solar power. On the contrary, the system will automatically use grid power to compensate if it is not sunny enough.
4. If the electricity produced from the panels is not fully used, it will be pushed out to the national grid. To measure the amount of excess electricity from the solar power system pushed into the grid, Dien Luc will install a free 2-way meter.
5. To ensure the safety of the power grid, when the power grid is cut off, the system will automatically shut off.
6. The system will automatically stop and operate again the following day at night.
7. The system has a remote smartphone or computer monitoring function to monitor daily electricity output.
